Louis Vuitton Gets Personal.

Anyone who follows the luxury market might assume that Hermès is the natural leader in the space. But surprisingly Bloomberg News reported this week that Louis Vuitton has been named the world’s most valuable luxury brand for the seventh consecutive year (Hermès following closely behind at #2).

In an obvious attempt to hold on to the crown, LV has purchased a major stake in the ever-expanding Hermès empire, and now this.. custom, made-to-order handbags to the tune of $7,000 and up. Enter, Haute Maroquinerie: their new store-in-store individualized handbag service salons.

The bags will be offered in five shapes including the popular Noé, Triangle, Lockit, and two new ones, the Milaris and the Neo Steamer; and will be offered in 40,000 possible combinations of sizes, linings, colors and skins. Each piece will be handcrafted at Vuitton’s workshop in Asnières, France; and arrives within five months with it’s own keepsake box and silk pillow. Lest the Birkin continue to corner the absurdly expensive handbag market, thank goodness the uberwealthy now have another option.
